February 28, 2013

Back to work today.  Worked Monday, had two days off.  Now working two days!  Tonight I'll eat my leftover cashew chicken from Bangkok Peppers and go to my mom's.

February 27, 2013

We got a second day off work, because of the predicted snowstorm. Didn't think it was going to happen though. At 5 a.m. there weren't any local school closings, but by 6:00, everything was closed. We ate at Bangkok Peppers, and I had the cashew chicken. I was wanting the lunch portion, but forgot to ask for it. We each got huge plates of food, a cup of soup, and a pop. It WAS the lunch portion, and our bill was $15! Our pop wasn't even on it. Is it included with the meal at lunch?

At 5:30, we went to the district girls' basketball game at Atherton, against Bendle. Our girls played hard, but lost again to them. Glad to see our seniors were smiling at the end for their last high school game!

February 26, 2013

No school today, because the teachers have Professional Development. Works for me, even though parapros will not get paid.  We ate at Senor Lucky's.

February 25, 2013

It's Monday and I call this a one-day work week, since we have tomorrow off.  Hoping to also have Wednesday off, as a snowstorm is predicted.

Gary didn't have to babysit, because Emmy was sick, so Amanda stayed home from work.  So we were able to go to the girls' district basketball game.  They won, and it was a good game!  Glad to see Shannon kept being put in!

February 24, 2013 (Sunday)

After church we ate at Rally's. Relaxed a bit before the Lenten Service, which was held at our church this week. We enjoyed a meal of sloppy joes and desserts before the service upstairs.

February 23, 2013

Busy day today.  Gary had a UMM breakfast meeting at Otie's.  I had a Pampered Chef Party at Amanda's at 2:00 and Jenny's breast cancer fundraiser at 3:00.  Had fun at the first party and there were a lot of people there, including many of Amanda's friends from high school.  We didn't stay long at the fundraiser and instead went to Twin's and had green pepper pizza.

February 19, 2013 (Tuesday)

Back to work after four days off for Presidents' Weekend.  So cold, windy and blustery.  I had planned on going to HaloBurger, but Gary had a small amount of Dinty Moore beef stew left over from his lunch with Emily.  I had that on two pieces of toast.  Went on to each two pieces of raisin bread Garth had brought me, with peanut butter and pear cinnamon jelly from the Jampot in the Keweenaw.

February 18, 2013 (Presidents' Day)

Got to sleep in today since it's Presidents' Day and I have the day off.  We went to lunch at Senor Lucky's and split the fajita meal at lunch prices: two fajitas each. Then we had to get home so Gary could babysit and I could go to my mother's.

February 14, 2013 (Valentine's Day!)

February 13, 2013

Garth and Colin were in town, so we all went to Starlite for dinner. Amanda and the kids went and Laura and Manny and the kids.  We were there a couple hours, enjoying each others' company.

February 10, 2013 (Valentine's Sunday)

I signed up to make snacks for after church this Sunday. I call it my Valentine's Extravaganza and do it up big!

I made cherry Rice Krispie treats and sugar cookie bars with cherry frosting.  One of my favorite snacks were cupcakes that had a brownie layer in the bottom and strawberry cake on top with white frosting.  The other fave was cherry fudge.  So simple to make!  I melted a bag of white chocolate chips in the microwave and stirred in a can of cherry frosting.  Everyone loved the desserts!

In the afternoon, we attended my Uncle Glen and Aunt Beverly's 60th anniversary party.  It was nice to see their family and other relatives, too!

February 5, 2013 (Tuesday)

Not much to say about today!  Gary was babysitting and then went to a girls' basketball game at Bentley.

I had a Weight Watcher's frozen pizza for dinner, and it was very filling.  Napped sitting on the couch for awhile, so I didn't go to bed until after 11 p.m.

Picked up a book at the library, American Idol: The Untold Story.  First few chapters were not too interesting, but it's picking up now.

February 4, 2013 (Monday)

Today was my Mid-Year Review of the Career Cruising program that I am the administrator/advisor for.  It went well and all grades scored between 3.9 and 4.0!  Glad to have that over with!

I made Red Velvet Puppy Chow for Gloria's birthday, and that was delicious!  It was a pinterest recipe.

Did a lot of running around all afternoon.

The annual Beyond High School night was at 6:00.  Not much to say about that, and I would like to be more involved in planning it next year.  Only 5 students came with their parents.  Glad that's over, too!

February 3, 2013 (Sunday)

Today is daughter, Lisa's, birthday.  She is 40!  Too bad I wasn't able to talk to her.

We ate at Bob Evan's in Birch Run after church.  We both had delicious Cobb Salads with bleu cheese dressing.

Amanda had a Chamber Singers concert at Woodside Church, and we went to that.  Wasn't that exciting.

Got home for the Super Bowl.  I'm only there for the entertainment!  My favorite was Jennifer Hudson, singing with the kids from Sandy Hook.  Second fave was Beyonce and, lastly, Alicia Keyes.  Didn't care for her version of the Star Spangled Banner, and I don't much care for her anyways.  She seems snooty to me.

February 2, 2013 (Saturday)

The day began with Grace and Clark's Upward basketball game.  Grace played really well and attempted shots and passed and received passes really well.

Then we took Grace, for a belated birthday date, and I ran in to JoAnn's to pick up some ribbon.  Then we went to Starlite.  I had pizza sticks, which are premade (not made at Starlite).  They were OK, but tasted better at home when I warmed them up.

I went to my mother's and then to Birch Run to pick up a coat for Madilyn, just like Grace's, but in a white with grey animal print ($12) and a lilac scarf and hat ($4 each).  I had $20 in certificates, so I didn't have to pay anything, just like a few days ago when I bought Grace's coat! All cam from Old Navy.

Then we went to Grace's birthday party and that was a noisy, fun time!  Good to be home though, enjoying the quiet!  Not so good to be paying bills, though!  I should shorten my new pinstripe pants now.  Size 14!

February 1, 2013 (Friday)

The first day of February merits a new craft project, made from last year's Gooseberry Patch appointment book page:

After Madilyn's game (in which she really hustled!), we went to Sorrento's to meet friends. That was fun! Split a chicken pesto sub with Gary, but I thought it was pretty bland and I didn't like it at all.
